Toronto, ON – December 1, 2003 - Link Up, in partnership with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, is pleased to announce the development of a health and safety awareness program for persons with disabilities seeking employment.

This pilot project being developed by WSIB, Link Up and representatives from various organizations assisting persons with employment barriers, will seek to add a vitally important piece to the pre-employment puzzle.

The ultimate goal of this project is to eventually train all job seekers in how to secure their workplace environment and to prevent or reduce the current numbers of workplace-caused accidents and illnesses occurring each year across Toronto and surrounding areas. Even though this program is being developed for persons with disabilities, we expect to extend the program to all groups that utilize employment services to return to the workplace.

We expect this program to be ready to launch in the spring of 2004 and will provide detailed information of program content at that time.
